Gwen E. Myers, DVM, is an Emergency Veterinarian at MedVet Columbus and has been on staff since 2004.
In addition to her work at MedVet, Dr. Myers is highly involved in the national zoological medical community. She is the Associate Veterinarian for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and the Veterinary Advisor for the Otter Taxon Advisory Group. She has a passion for conservation research and fieldwork and serves as a Volunteer Veterinarian for the United States Geological Survey in Alaska.
Dr. Myers is an Adjunct Professor at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and a guest lecturer for the College’s Preventative Medicine program. She teaches the Zoo & Wildlife elective at the veterinary school, and is a frequent presenter at the annual American Association of Zoo Veterinarians conference.
Dr. Myers is currently involved in three unique studies researching raccoons as bio-indicators of infectious disease, fentanyl transdermal pharmacokinetics in ball pythons, and the use of intranasal sedatives to reduce stress related to capture and transport in birds.
She also volunteers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Dr. Myers has completed several full marathons and triathlons to raise funds for cancer research.
